 I’ve made it a point to live life on my own terms. As women, we’re often told we can’t have it all. I beg to differ with that. Who says you can’t be anything and everything you want to be – entrepreneur? Philanthropist? Mother? I make it widely known that I’m proudest of that last achievement.

But being a woman is about more than the roles we play every day. It’s about feeling good about yourself and the decisions you make. I’ve been approached for years to do my own fragrance but the idea just never came together. It was so important to me that I develop an authentic fragrance and body line that I could use and incorporate all of the important elements of my own lifestyle – something beachy and fun, yet earth-friendly and cruelty-free because anyone who knows me knows the importance I place on protecting the environment and safety of animals.

I’ve always been known for my scent, whether back in high school or while waiting to shoot a scene on the lifeguard truck. I’ve been known to slather on a mixture of oils and scents like sandalwood, amber and patchouli, so people I’d meet would frequently ask me, ‘where can I get that scent for my wife or girlfriend?’

I am so thrilled that I can finally offer a fragrance that really embodies my free-spirited take on life. I developed two fragrances – one for the day and the other, for night. I called them Malibu and Malibu Night because there’s something quite simple about the Malibu lifestyle. It’s the beach, the waves, the whole light, airy mood of this surfer’s paradise. And though it can be expensive to live there, it doesn’t feel that way. Everyone’s really laid-back and unpretentious.  It’s one of my favorite places.

It was important to me to make sure of four things – that the product is fun and flirty; made up of natural fragrances that create a delicious, sensual scent; that the product was vegan-based and that unlike the town that inspired it, it would be affordable and accessible to any other hard-working mom or young woman out there.
